On Global Running Day, we’re celebrating the boldest, ballsiest running challenge of the year!
Today is Global Running Day, and we couldn’t miss the opportunity to celebrate the boldest, ballsiest running challenge of the year — set by our very own CEO, Toby Freeman.
Toby is taking on the ‘Big Ballsy Challenge’ — running 500K across the UK, including the entire length of Hadrian’s Wall, while dressed as a giant ballbag. Why? To reach more people with The Robin Cancer Trust’s life-saving testicular cancer awareness campaigns and get the UK #TalkingBollocks — literally.
But for Toby, this challenge isn’t just about running. It’s deeply personal.
In 2011, Toby lost his older brother Robin to testicular cancer at just 24 years old. In the aftermath of that unimaginable loss, Toby and his family founded The Robin Cancer Trust, with one mission: to save lives through awareness, early detection, and breaking the stigma around male cancers.
“After losing Rob, we made it our mission to ensure no other family suffers the way we did,” Toby says. “If dressing as a giant ballbag makes someone stop, smile, and remember to check their balls… it’s worth it.”
Despite being 96% curable when caught early, testicular cancer is often diagnosed late due to embarrassment and a lack of awareness. Toby’s challenge is about changing that — one awkward conversation (and ridiculous outfit) at a time.
🎯 The Big Ballsy Challenge aims to raise £240,000 — that’s £100 for every man diagnosed with testicular cancer in the UK each year (2,400). Every pound raised powers The Robin Cancer Trust’s life-saving awareness campaigns, delivered in schools, universities, workplaces, and communities across the country.
