Our Story
Founded in Memory of Robert Woodward
The Robin Cancer Trust was founded in 2013 by Tracey and Roger Woodward, in memory of their son Robert (Robin), who tragically lost his life to testicular cancer at just 23 years old.
Robert was a vibrant, energetic young man with his whole life ahead of him. He was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2008, and despite treatment, the cancer returned and spread. He passed away in 2012, leaving a devastated family and a community shocked by how little was known about this highly treatable cancer.
Turning Grief into Action
Robert's parents were determined that no other family should go through what they experienced. They discovered that despite testicular cancer being the most common cancer in young men, awareness was shockingly low. Young men were dying from a cancer that, when caught early, has a 98% cure rate.
In 2013, The Robin Cancer Trust was born. What started as a small local campaign has grown into the UK's only charity dedicated to testicular, ovarian and germ cell cancers.
Our Name
We are named after Robert's nickname, 'Robin'. The robin bird has become our symbol - a reminder of hope, resilience, and the vibrant life Robert lived.
